Erika Marchetto Alhadas began her professional life in IP in the year of 2000, working for the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial – INPI). Hired to work at the Patent Department (DIRPA) in the area of recordal of assignment rights, she later joined the Trademark Department (DIRMA), where she had the opportunity to assist Trademark Examiners in the examination of trademark applications, oppositions, and responses to the same. In 2002, she joined ARARIPE in the Trademark area, drafting the same type of work she was priory examining while at the BRPTO.

Erika Alhadas is currently heading the Trademark Department of the firm, coordinating a highly qualified team of attorneys and interns, helping clients in their Intellectual Property demands. Erika Alhadas assists large companies and small entrepreneurs to protect and explore their trademarks, develop marketing strategies, and explore other IP assets. The experience acquired in innumerous conflicts which she helped to solve, her efforts and energy devoted to each matter handled, are important qualities in the counseling provided to our clients.

Erika Alhadas has actively participated in assisting companies in domain name conflicts, having been nominated as Specialist Mediator by WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) / BRPTO for Intellectual Property disputes. Erika Alhadas is a professor at the Intermediary Trademark Course, promoted and organized by the Brazilian Industrial Property Agent Association (ABAPI) and member of the Antipiracy Committee of the Brazilian Bar Association of the Rio de Janeiro (OAB/RJ).

One of our firm representatives at INTA (International Trademark Association), Erika Alhadas has been nominated as a member of the Trademark Office Practices Committee (TOPC) of Latin America and Caribbean, being in charge of studying practices adopted by each of the Patent and Trademark Offices in that region. Also, she was appointed member of Anticounterfeiting Committee and, more recently, of Famous and Well-Known Trademarks, her current position in the INTA.
